PROJECT TRIANGLE.

On Saturday i lead a Knitting workshop at the Somewhere to_ Project Triangle event! i was very nervous leading up to the event but it was very exciting getting everything ready in the morning. I created an installation in the centre of the knitting circle, which looked like an explosion of texture and colour with my large knitting needles in the middle of the piece with all the other needles and wools.

This was my first experience of leading a workshop, so i didn’t know what to expect! At one point it got really busy and it proved popular all day! Time flew and there were lots of very enthusiastic people sat around knitting, it was great to see people engaging and learning a new skill! it was a very enjoyable day, and i came away feeling very pleased with what i had achieved! I was approached regarding other workshops and projects which is fantastic!

MATCHBOXES.

For the Stakeholders event, me joanna paul and tim, a graphic designer worked on creating matchboxes to give out in the goody bags. My inspiration was from a hand drawn illustrative matchbox. I showed Tim my drawings of all the igniters which then inspired the design of the sleeves. This was the first colour scheme, but i suggested to change it as i didn’t think of green and yellow as the main Ignite or Blaze colours, it also was a bit too much colour and the Ignite didn’t stand out from the background.

This was the ammended colour way which i think looked fantastic and made the Ignite logo stand out.

The final goody bags, with BLAZE stamps. i was really pleased and proud of the work i’ve done on these products.

STAKEHOLDERS EVENT.

Tonight was the launch of BLAZE’s summer programme of work, the event held at the Pavillion showcased all the strands of BLAZE. It was a colourful and energetic arrival for the guests with some live graffiti art, free running on an amazing structure, dj’ing. It was interesting to see the artists working on the live graffiti pieces as they referred to a sketchbook for the images, they worked really quickly and boldy and i loved their distinct styles. i am really interested in having a go as i think it could improve my illustrations which i am eager to do!

I love the stylistic images of faces and figures! feel very inspired to draw and develop my own style more! Live art is a must for BLAZE festival, its great to see the blank canvas before the final outcome, and to see the process.

The amazing Boom Bike Band showed guests down the path with a moving performance, which was really engaging!

There was a mock up of the three-dimensional shards that are going to be placed around the festival site, it was really large and bright creating a great impact on the space, i can just imagine them around the site, and lit up at night will look esquisite!

Mood boards visualising ideas for each areas of the Site design of the Vintage Guild weekend, mainly focusing on the Arts, Crafts and Fashion tent. I enjoyed collating the images to get a sense and feel of the festival. It is really helpful to visualise the site dressing, and to focus on the strongest points of the mood board and take them forward!

Ahead of next weeks meeting with Rachel from Art yarn, this beautiful installation at Preston Uclan caught my eye. The chunky large scale knitting piece is what is similar to something i would like to create for the Somewhereto_ event at Sandy Gate! I am very excited ti experiment with techniques ihavent really explored before and to meet with a proffesional!

BEATHERDER 2012.

Last weekend i attended Beatherder in Gisburn. It has been running for 7 years now and has grown enormously since i first went 4 years ago. It has a great feel to it, i love how the whole of the site and equipment looks handmade, someone has put alot of effort into everything you see! its very visually exciting, and I’m not bothered if you can see a bit of gaffer tape here and there sticking the flags to the side of the tents. Its just enchanting! i love the home grown feel of everything, the carnival-esque nature. Its my favourite place, its just such an emmersive atmosphere, everybody is friendly- you can talk to anyone! Its inspiring to see how this small scale event has triumphed and grown year on year, i imagine this is how the BLAZE festival could be! The below images are mostly new additions this year, the festival is very visual with artists creating other sculptures and pieces, everything is so intricately thought about, its all about the detail. I think that is what i like about the festival so much!

The BLAZE triangle shard sculptures we want! these were at Beatherder, however they didnt have much impact as there were only these few, i think ours in varying scales will really bring the site to life!
